Nancy Watkins is a professor in the College of Education at St. Petersburg College. She received her Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from Florida International University (Miami) in 2004 and her Master's in Elementary Education from Florida Atlantic University (Boca Raton) 1993. Prior to joining the faculty at St. Petersburg College, Dr. Watkins spent 12 years teaching in Title 1 elementary schools (grades first through fifth) in Broward, Miami-Dade and Pinellas Counties.
Dr. Watkins is active in Center for Civic Learning and Community Engagement and is currently an associate in the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) at SPC. She is involved in a wide range of projects related to literacy and critical thinking, classroom management through a community of care and digital media in education.
