As a Clearwater High School graduate who left during college years, I moved back to the area in 2002.  My background stems from many years of real-world experience in the dental and medical field, as well as small business ownership. In 2007, I began my teaching passion here at St. Petersburg College.  I appreciate the dual opportunity of working in an academic setting (theory) while maintaining my small business co-ownership in the health care environment (practice). My multifaceted educational background coupled with my experiences provide a unique insight on how to redefine problems outside of normal boundaries and reach solutions on new understandings of complex situations.

Five years as a professional cheerleader taught me how to appreciate different backgrounds, morals, and values.  I earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Registered Nurse) from Bethel College and a Masters of Business Administration, concentrating in Business Ethics, from the University of Notre Dame. I recently finished the PhD coursework from Barry University. Additionally, I was recognized for outstanding contributions to Catholic education by the National Catholic Educational Association while serving on the advisory commission for the St. Pete Diocese (St. Cecelia). I continue to be involved in Catholic education and community service as a member of the Tampa Bay Notre Dame Alumni Club.  I sponsor an endowment scholarship of "Alturism" at my undergrad alma mater, and host an Annual Food Drive for Religious Community Services.

I believe that having a growth mindset is at the heart of any education, including Applied Ethics. Previous students claimed that I have a true passion for teaching this course and my teaching style is respectful and conducive for interpersonal reflection and change.  In addition to Applied Ethics, I have taught Student and Life Success courses which focus’ on strengthening skills such as: study and test-taking strategies, effective interpersonal skills, organization and time management techniques, creative and critical thinking skills, and research strategies; students who take my Applied Ethics course can benefit in these areas due to this additional knowledge.
