My Educational Background:

Experience:

As a nurse I exclusively worked in the emergency department. Initially as a staff nurse and eventually I became a charge nurse. I have experience with patients including CV emergencies, neurological emergencies,, OB/GYN emergencies, pediatric emergencies as well as medical and surgical emergencies. Furthermore, we did manage exacerbations or chronic conditions in the emergency department.
I have been a nurse practitioner since 2009 and have worked in interventional radiology, convenient care, and emergency care. I currently work part time in 2 local emergency departments as a nurse practitioner while being a adjunct faculty on the clinical team for St Pete College.

Teaching Philosophy:
As a nurse, I learned that the lives of our patients depend on our knowledge, skills, and educational background. Thus, education, in my opinion, is the most important aspect to achieve excellent patient outcomes. Teaching is providing the required information and allowing, through concrete application, for the student to make a connection between theory and practice. Learning is not simply memorizing but comprehension of concepts which will result in deductive reasoning in future situations that have not been encountered in the students’ clinical experiences.
As a nurse practitioner, I believe in fostering professional development and supporting students to follow not just a career but their heart and their instinct, Nursing is my passion and I an excited to be sharing this passion with my students.
