He earned his BS in physical education at Bryan College, his MA in physical education at USF, and is a certified/licensed athletic trainer through the NATA and the state of Florida. Daryl has taught at the elementary, secondary, and collegiate levels. Courses taught are: health ed., kinesiology, exercise physiology, nutrition, conditioning and fitness, prevention & care of athletic injuries, sports medicine & athletic training, personal & community health. He is a triathlete and also enjoys participating in marathons and open water swimming.

He qualified and completed in the 2006 World Championship Ironman 70.3 and had the privilege of competing in the 2009 / 2017 "Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon." in San Francisco.  Qualifying for Boston in the 2010 Gasparilla marathon, he was fortunate to compete in the 2011 Boston marathon.  This was such an exciting event!

Daryl was diagnosed with cancer in June of 2014 and underwent some extensive chemotherapy treatment.  It was just before Christmas of 2014 that he received the exciting news of no more cancer treatments.  He is a cancer survivor!  What an awesome Christmas gift!  On his birthday in 2020 he received news that he is now cancer free.

On the home front, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their two beautiful girls (biking, taking the dogs for a walk, going to the beach, floating down Rainbow river, etc).  Two of his favorite quotes are from Isaiah 40:31 "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint" and from Psalms 18:1-2 “I love you O Lord my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God my rock in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
