Darice Moore
After earning a B.A. in English from Florida State University, followed by an M.A. in English from the University of Florida, I settled into the corporate life, writing and editing for a healthcare consulting firm, then an e-commerce startup, and finally a large IT consulting firm. I worked as a technical writer, a proposal writer, and an editor -- if it involved writing, I did it.
Then I struck out into freelancing, performing copy editing and proofreading for nonfiction works in IT, health care, psychology, business, and medicine, among others. I still work as a copy editor for several trade journals and sometimes for books.
As a professor, I am delighted to teach writing and its associated skills:
I firmly believe that professionalism in writing is more necessary now than ever, with the prevalence of online communication in our lives.
I live in Pinellas County with my husband, two children, and three pets: two guinea pigs and a cat. My interests include reading, history, knitting, hiking, learning new things -- and writing, of course! I am a member of the Romance Writers of America and have also attended the science fiction and fantasy writing workshop Viable Paradise.
