I consider myself both an academic and a practitioner. Teaching is my second career, and I have teaching part time in higher education since 1986. My academic background includes an MBA in Finance and a Ph.D. in Information Technology Management. Before earning my Ph.D., I spent 20 years in the banking industry, culminating in my role as Senior Vice President of Operations at a $46 billion bank (now Bank of America). Early in my career, I introduced PCs to branch banking in Florida, pioneering a network that automated new accounts and loan processing by connecting PCs to a mainframe system. My finance background was integral to managing the bank's operations and systems support.

Understanding financial principles is essential in any profession. Executive-level roles require proficiency in corporate finance, budget forecasting, long-term strategy development, and capital investment planning. Business managers must prepare proforma models to secure executive buy-in for initiatives and demonstrate their department's financial impact to support raises and promotions.

Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is built on four core values:
1. Academic Excellence: Upholding the highest standards of education.
2. Interdisciplinary Studies: Promoting diverse perspectives and approaches.
3. Social Responsibility: Encouraging business managers to be socially aware.
4. Integration of Theory and Practice: Bridging academic concepts with real-world applications.

Personal Interests
My personal interests include writing and urban gardening. I serve on the Leadership Committee for Tampa Bay Time Bank, a social justice and economic reform initiative founded by Edgar Cahn, author of No More Throw-Away People: The Co-Production Imperative. Time Bank fosters community collaboration by empowering individuals—families, retirees, students, and others—to enhance quality of life through mutual support. As an urban farmer, I cultivate an edible landscape shared with my family and neighbors.  I have also served on the Financial Advisory Board of the International Expressive Art Therapists Association (IEATA.org) since 2007.
