I am an adjunct faculty member and tutor at SPC on the Clearwater and Tarpon Springs campuses where I tutor EAP/ESL, Spanish, and general writing face-to-face and online. I have always been passionate about teaching and learning, especially when in comes to other languages. In high school and college, I studied both Spanish and German and went on to earn my BA in German Language and Literature from Bates College in Maine with a secondary concentraion in Spanish. During and after college, I lived in Europe for three years studying, travelling, and teaching English in Germany and Austria.  After returning to the U.S., I worked for Lufthansa German Airlines for several years, which allowed me to interact daily with people from all over the world and continue to travel extensively (and cheaply!). From these experiences, I understand first-hand what it is like to struggle with another language and live in a country that is different from your own.
After moving to Florida in 1988, I earned my master's degree in Applied Linguistics/TESOL from the University of South Florida in Tampa. In addtion to teaching and tutoring at SPC, I have been involved in second language and literacy development and administration in early childhood educational settings for over seventeen years as an owner/Director, state-approved trainer, and accreditation verifier in Florida.
I am also excited to have been involved in developing and teaching the QEP Ready, Set, Succeed! course, NFS1000, which teaches new students at SPC about study strategies, metacognition, growth mindset, and time management to help them finish what they started and succeed in their coursework.
My husband and I have two wonderful children: a daughter who graduated from SPC and a son who graduated from UCF and is now finishing his PhD program at FSU.
