Bonjour mes ami.e.s!

I believe all students can & should learn a 2nd language, even if it is just for the exposure to a new culture & new way of thinking to complement their existing majors. Learning a second language inspires creativity, acceptance, and thoughtful thinking. I feel my role is to guide students through this language journey in order to reach their goals in their specialized majors. I teach because everyone has the ability to articulate and express themselves in original ways as global citizens. I teach to share my international experience, knowledge, and love of the French culture and language. I firmly believe that being exposed to and using a world language opens doors to higher perspectives and can help bring the world closer together. Communication can be the key and we are responsible for making the world a better place or at least a more vibrant one.

I am not a stranger to French or learning French. I have been teaching for 28 years but started learning French myself at 15 years old and enjoy it immensely! My academic focus is Secondary Language Acquisition and Instructional Technology. Over the years I have seen proof of the many benefits that languages offer to students! I believe in the success of my students and I will work with you individually to make sure that you are all successful. It is my hope that you will enjoy the French language & Culture as much as I enjoy guiding students on this new adventure.

I teach both face-to-face & online plus have taught all levels of French (Pre-school through the most advanced levels in university) as well as teaching English to both elementary and High school students for 2 years in France. In the classroom, along with my guidance & planning I like to encourage each student to take responsibility to use their language in creative and unique way to express their needs, wants & interests.

In my opinion, languages are best used when learning is integrated in reality & when can students can relate to the culture on a personal level.  I believe that even while learning in the group, the individual needs of the students is still valuable, and I have seen the benefit of differentiating activities when needed for a student’s success.

Having majored for both the Bachelor's and Master's degree in French Language/Phonetics/Literature/Francophone Culture along with Secondary Language Education, I am quite versed in the most effective ways for students to acquire & use their new French language skills offering ample opportunities for practice & purpose.

Since I too was a student of the French language beginning at 15 in High school, earning a Bachelor's & Master's Degree and then living in France/Switzerland off and on for 7 years, I have acquired many tips & tricks and I realize how eager I am to use my talents to continue to grow students and share with them the in and outs of the French language!

I have been teaching in the classroom for 28 years & online for 16, yet still every term I learn a new method or webtool to help me share the knowledge and individualize instruction. I am always interested in continuing to grow and learn in the profession and in my subject matter attending many professional conferences while also participating in French book clubs. I have taught and designed both in-class and hybrid or online courses over the years and am looking forward to also teaching you :-)

Bonne continuation!
