My teaching philosophy includes the task of introducing students to ideas and concepts that enable them to understand the past as well as prepare for the future.  It is personal and experiential as the learning process engages both the teacher and the student--both are learners in the educational process.

My interests include the history of the American presidency with a collection of biographies and memorabilia.  Issues regarding religion and culture in America have been a personal as well as an academic interest.
