I often hear that people who are musically inclined are also mathematically inclined. I'm not sure if this is true in every case, but it is certainly true for me! The two common themes of my life have been music (as a musician, producer and manager in the music business) and mathematics (finance and accounting executive, graduate student and father of four children.

I grew up in Flushing, N.Y., home of Citi Field (though I grew up a Yankee fan), Paul Simon and "The Nanny". I played guitar, wrote songs and sang throughout high school. I started playing professionally at 17 and had the privilege of meeting, playing with and being mentored by the late Harry Chapin. I left college after one semester and moved to Los Angeles to continue pursuing my music career. While playing clubs and concerts in LA, I worked for Capitol Records as their International Sales Manager and International Producer. I stayed in LA for 3 years but moved back to New York after accepting a position at Warner Bros. as their International Promotions Manager.

After several years of working in the music business, I decided to pursue a "real" career, so I moved to the Washington, D.C. area and graduated from the University of Maryland in 1984 with a B.S. in Computer Science. After graduation, I worked for IBM for 5 years as a marketing representative in the higher education industry. I also taught computer science (programming, networking and IT theory) at Montgomery College, in Rockville, MD. I attended graduate school at George Washington University from 1989-91 and graduated with an MBA in International Finance/Finance. While finishing my MBA, I accepted a consulting position with the World Bank. During my tenure at the World Bank, I began studying for my Ph.D. in Finance at the University of Maryland. I spent several years completing my course work and taking my comprehensives while balancing my economic and financial analysis workload at the Bank and teaching undergraduate and graduate finance classes at Maryland.

I have been a CFO for the past 17 years for such companies as Orbital Sciences Corporation (division CFO), Visual Analytics, Digital Focus, Command Information (purchased Digital Focus), The Yellowstone Group, WinTec Arrowmaker and EBSCO Sign Group. As CFO at some of these firms, we did a lot of international acquisitions and I worked and traveled extensively around the world. I reside in Tampa, FL with 1 of my children. I have 2 girls (ages 30 and 19) and 2 boys (ages 23 and 23 (active duty Navy)). I enjoy sports (football, basketball, sailing, and weight training), fishing and spending time with my kids.
