I hold a B.A. in English from Florida State University, an M.A. in English from Florida Atlantic University, and a Ph.D. in Literary Studies from Georgia State University. My research interests are primarily in American Literature from 1850-1950 as well as American Drama and focus on the intersections between subjective experience and how that experience is translated into forms of self-knowledge and its often devastating consequences. 

I've been teaching composition and literature courses since 2006 and my classroom goal is simple: to produce writers who can confidently and effectively participate in their chosen disciplines (and careers) through writing. I view reading and writing as a type of conversation in which I eagerly invite my students to participate in order to develop their critical thinking abilities.
