Larry Ducey, Senior Instructional DEsign Coordinator for PHSC.  Larry’s background includes more than fourteen years of classroom instruction with content certifications in both science and social sciences. Larry is credentialed to teach at the college in both Social & Behavioral Sciences, and Computer Information Technology. Larry is Quality Matters (QM) certified, and has taught SLS since 2016, and more than 15 “Teaching an Online Classes” to SPC faculty.   Additionally, he has been a Pinellas County District instructor for Online Course integration, and is currently on the SPC MyCourses4Faculty, and Itech Faculty training teams. Larry was a recipient of the Teacher Leadership for School Improvement Lastinger Grant in 2011. Larry has been a presenter of the use of Technology to Improve Student Engagement at local, State and International conferences.

Larry served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Captain, holds three United States Patents in water technology, and is a member of the Aztec Club of 1847, a military ancestral society.

Larry holds an Ed.S. Curriculum and Instruction, University of Florida, with his focus on Teacher Leadership for School Improvement; an M.Ed. Online Instruction and Learning, North Central University; and a Bachelor of Arts, Philosophy, Texas Lutheran College.

Larry’s family is immersed in education.  His wife and oldest daughter are elementary school teachers; his oldest son is a Full professor of math at James Madison University; Larry’s other children attend
school here at SPC, and one daughter is a rising senior at the University of North Florida.

Larry has lived in Florida since 2002, and his interests include running, SCUBA diving, paddle boarding, and is the faculty advisor for the St. Petersburg College Wetlands Restoration Club.
