Learning has always been my passion. I was the weird kid that loved school and not just because I got to hang out with friends. I genuinely wanted to learn about everything. I remember reading the encyclopedias at the local library and being so proud when my parents bought us our own set to use at home. Like I said, I was an odd kid. I actually still have that set of encyclopedias at my house to this day and have forced my daughter to use them for a school project. I attribute my continual quest for knowledge to my grandfather, G-Daddy. He had his PhD in Physics and worked with the space program. That right, my grandfather was a legitimate rocket scientist. He also taught really smart people extremely complex subjects at Georgia Tech. G-Daddy taught me that I could achieve anything I set my mind to. I strive to be like him every day and motivate my students to reach their goals.

I received my B.S. in Biology at Georgia State University followed by my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!).  After veterinary school, I joined the United States Army Veterinary Corps and was stationed at Moody Air Force Base for 4 years.  I learned a lot from my military experience.  It was so rewarding to work with the Military Working Dogs and their dedicated handlers. I transitioned into civilian life and became an associate veterinarian in a Dunedin private practice.  I became the Medical Director within a few years and enjoyed mentoring the technicians and young doctors within the facility.  As far as veterinary medicine, there is a special place in my heart for dentistry and oncology.

I live in Palm Harbor with my husband, Jason, and our two beautiful (and completely free-spirited) children.  We have a dog, Pickles, and a cat,  Fascia. I enjoy sitting by the pool and watching my children swim. As a family, we love board games and watching funny cartoons. When I get to choose the movie, you can bet that I will be picking a musical or Disney films.  My newest love is Outlander.  Who can resist a Scottish accent?

As a veterinarian, I strive to practice high quality medicine.  As a realist, I know that you cannot do this without a team of dedicated and knowledgeable veterinary technicians. Technicians are the heart and soul of any good clinic and clients will attest to that. My goal for all of my students is to graduate with a knowledge base that they can expand on once in practice, but more importantly for them to grasp the important role that they will have in the hospital. They are the client educating, pet advocating, doctor wrangling backbone of the veterinary world.
