I received my BA from the Univerisity of Hartford with a double major in Secondary Education and History. I then went on to get my MA in History from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. From there I started teaching high school social studies in Vernon, Connecticut and in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While teaching, I decided that I had a passion to learn more about teaching and learning so I decided to return to school and pursue my Ph.D. in Curriculum, Instruction, and Teacher Education from Michigan State University. At Michigan State, I taught social studies methods courses to student teachers and worked with them in their placements. I have also taught a graduate course about the history of education and curriculum. While I was finishing my degree, I took a job at Valencia College to work in Faculty Development as a Faculty Developer/Instructional Designer. In the evenings I taught several EPI and History courses. I realized that I had a strong desire to work more directly with students and decided to seek an education faculty position. As luck would have it, I found a great position here at St. Petersburg College in Tarpon Springs.
