My name is Jenn Vedder and I am your instructor for this class. I earned my BS in Biology and Healthcare Administration from Providence College ('94), a Master's of Science in Health Services Administration from Central Michigan University ('98), and my Six Sigma Green Belt ('12). I served in the US Army as a Medical Service Corps officer and was stationed in Fort Sam Houston, TX, Camp Humphrey's, Korea, and Fort Bragg, NC where I was responsible for designing, implementing, and conducting training for all healthcare providers and administrative personnel both in the classroom and hands on for the first Ambulatory Data Patient Tracking System for the US Medical Command at the largest medical facility in the Army. While in the Army, I also served as the Chief of Military Personnel and as the Assistant Chief of Patient Administration for Womack Army Medical Center. I have since taught at various universities in subjects such as Six Sigma Green Belt, operations management, healthcare delivery systems, electronic health records, and applied healthcare informatics. I served as a consultant for Leidos, a government contractor, from 2009-2015, where I help write requests for proposals and for whom I was co-author on a series of books entitled: Eyewitness to War Volumes I and II: The US Army in Operation Al Fajr: An Oral History for the Combat Studies Institute, at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. I am also an avid marathon runner and ultra runner. In addition to my passion for helping others achieve their dreams of receiving their degree, I love helping young adults learn to live more healthy, active lives and serve as a health and physical education teacher for Virginia Beach Public Schools. I am also the Jumps and Throws Coach for the Kellam High School Track Team in Virginia Beach, VA.  I have three wonderful children ages 19, 17, and 13 and an amazingly supportive husband who currently serves on Active Duty in the US Army. I have been with Saint Petersburg College since 2010.
