My research interests are primarily related to evolutionary ecology and field biology.  Although I have broad interests in biology, several taxa are of special interest: reptiles, amphibians, and insects.  I am particularly fascinated by population interactions including plant/animal interactions, predator/prey interactions, and relating these to biological control.  My interest in sexual selection theory lead me to conduct research on the evolution of “reverse” sexual dimorphism in Galapagos Lava Lizards (Microlophus grayi)

I began my college education at then St. Petersburg Junior College.  Subsequently, I received a BS in biology from Appalachian State University, an MS in entomology from the University of Florida and another MS in zoology from Ohio State University as I worked toward a doctorate there.
