Dr. Thomas graduated from Mary Washington College in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.  She attended graduate school at Virginia Commonwealth University - Medical College of Virginia Campus and received a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2004.  Dr. Thomas then became licensed as a Physical Therapist in both Virginia and Florida.  She has worked in multiple clinical settings including outpatient orthopedics/sports medicine, home health, and sub-acute rehabilitation.  She has enjoyed being an instructor in the clinical setting for both Doctor of Physical Therapy and Physical Therapist Assistant students.  Dr. Thomas became an American Physical Therapy Association Credentialed Clinical Instructor in 2010.  

From 2009 to 2012, Dr. Thomas was the Program Director of a Physical Therapist Assistant program in Riverview, Florida.  She was responsible for leading her team with the development of both the academic and clinical education curricula as well as achievement of initial accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).  Her teaching experience includes the following content areas: medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, musculoskeletal/orthopedics, kinesiology, and neuroanatomy.   

In the fall of 2012, Dr. Thomas was hired by St. Petersburg College as a full-time faculty member in the Physical Therapist Assistant program.  She served as an adjunct instructor for the St. Petersburg College Orthotics and Prosthetics program from 2012 to 2014.  In the fall of 2015, Dr. Thomas was hired as the Program Director of the SPC PTA Program.
