Welcome to St. Petersburg College.  My name is Beth Markley.  I am married with 2 children and the proud owner of 2 long hair miniature dachshunds.  I was born and raised in Minnesota and moved to Illinois in 1989 with my husband.  I completed my undergraduate work at the University of St. Francis (USF) in Joliet, Illinois where I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing. My chosen clinical specialty as a nurse was Neonatal ICU. I also spent some time working on a Medical Surgical floor, the ER and the Postpartum Unit prior to transitioning to the NICU. My husband and I moved to St. Petersburg, FL in 2008. After we were settled in St. Petersburg, I decided to return to school and obtained my Master of Science in Nursing specializing in Health Care Management Systems from Loyola University-New Orleans. After living in Florida for almost 6 years, we then decided to return to Illinois to be closer to our families.

Currently, I work for a Health Plan in Illinois that serves both the Medicaid and Medicare population across a multitude of states. My areas of specialization include Case Management, Utilization Review and Quality Improvement/Performance Improvement. I am currently the Director of Quality Improvement and am fortunate to really enjoy my job.

My goal is to help you learn all about Health Care and the fundamental components of our health care system.  I’m here to help you succeed and I look forward to working with you.
