I received my undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of South Florida, a B.A. in English, an M.A. in Reading Education, and an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership. I currently am pursuing an Ed.D. in Curriculum, Teaching, and Teacher Education from the University of Florida.
I believe in the constructivism philosophy of teaching and attempt to incorporate it into my classroom by implementing various student-centered methodologies that activate background knowledge and enable students to relate to concepts. In addition, I integrate technology into the curriculum, supplementing classroom instruction and developing students’ fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension skills. I believe it is important to establish and maintain positive relationships with students and colleagues, fostering an open environment of open communication and mutual respect.
I have two wonderful grandchildren: Allie (4 years) and Noah (1 1/2 years).
