My educational background includes the following: PhD in Adult Education, Curriculum and Instruction from the University of South Florida, Tampa, Fl in 1993 Masters of Science with a major in Nursing from Adelphi University, Garden City, New York in 1983 Bachelor of Science with a major in Nursing from Seton Hall University, Newark, New Jersey in 1964. I also attended a Post Masters Program in Oncology Nursing at the University of South Florida in 1987. As required by St. Petersburg College, I have completed two post graduate courses in Education from University of South Florida in 2004 I have been a nurse educator for 20 years teaching in both Associate Degree and Baccalaureate Degree Nursing Programs. In addition, I have worked as Staff Dvelopment Educator at both St. Joseph's hospital and Tampa General Hospital. I have been at St. Petersburg college since August 2002, teaching in the Associate Degree Nursing Program. I have taught Levels I and II as well as the LPN Transition Program. I have also taught the Role Transition Course at Level IV. My areas of nursing specialty include Medical Surgical Nursing and Oncology Nursing. I have also taught classes in Nursing Leadership and Critical Thinking. Philosophically, I believe that nursing education is a dynamic process whereby the student and teacher interact in theory classes and the clinical setting to achieve major learning goals and skills and to function as a fully competent, professional and caring nurse after graduation. Professionally, I have many interests including membership in the American Nurses Association, Florida Nurses Association, National League of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau, and Oncology Nurses Association. I also serve as Level I representative for the St Petersburg College Chapter of the Florida Nursing Student Association. On a personal level, I enjoy biking, tennis, the theater and travel.
