I am privileged to be an adjunct professor at St. Petersburg College since 2010. I have served as full time faculty since August 2016. My place as an educator is to provide a safe, fun, and healthy environment for students to grow, learn and engage with one another. I challenge myself to help them be successful in their collegiate endeavors. My experience as a professional counselor aids in this task through active listening, reflection, and supporting self-efficacy that every learner can exceed their goals.

I have worked in residential and outpatient treatment. I work in private practice counseling substance abuse and mental health clients for an agency as a licensed mental health counselor. I worked for Operation PAR providing clinical supervision and training to 56+ counselors in a substance abuse setting. I have worked with DCF, as well as, the Department of Corrections. I provided DUI counseling for the North Florida Safety Council.  I worked for Clay Behavioral Health as a coordinator for several outpatient substance abuse programs including Veterans court, Marchman court, and adolescent outpatient for substance abusers. I have worked for several companies providing Methadone treatment to those suffering from opiate addiction. One clinic serving 1500 patients per day. The accomplishment I am proudest of was being a part of developing a partnership between Pinellas County Jail and Operation Par’s Clearwater methadone clinic. If a woman who is pregnant and addicted to opiates is incarcerated she is brought daily to the clinic to receive medication and counseling services in an orange jumpsuit and shackles. We partnered with the jail to provide all services to these women in the medical unit of the detention center. This reduced the shame, and stigma of presenting at the clinic daily under such stressful conditions.

I earned my Associates Degree, as well as the CAAP/ATD addictions diploma from St. Petersburg College. I then completed my Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences studying Criminology and Psychology at the University of South Florida. I received my Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology at Troy University. I am a Certified Addictions Professional (CAP) by the Florida Certification Board.  I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Florida.

I am humbled to be working at St. Petersburg College in the Human Services program. I look forward to being a part of making SPC an even better learning institution than it already is today.
