I have been writing professionally since earning a BA in English from the University of Hawaii at Hilo. I worked 20+ years in marketing, creating successful advertising and public relations campaigns for Fortune 500 companies like Better Homes and Gardens, Franklin-Templeton, and Valpak, and earned a MS in Mass Communications from San Jose State University along the way. After earning a second master’s in Humanities from California State University at Dominguez Hills, I began teaching writing and business communications in both online and face-to-face colleges.

Since starting at St. Petersburg College in 2009, I’ve taught all levels of composition as well as Mass Communications. I act as an advisor to the student newspaper, the Sandbox, and have helped to expand that publication into social media with regular live coverage of events through Twitter @sandboxsocial. I’ve written 3 tutorials for the college - a Journalism LibGuide, a Social Media LibGuide, and a Basic Grammar LibGuide - and acted as editor for the CETL blog for 2 years. I’m also an award-winning published novelist.

In my current position, I’m a writing tutor in the Seminole Learning Support Commons as well as an instructor. With experience writing in industries from computers to insurance, I can help students with any paper in any subject. My goal is help students discover how writing can be more than just something they need to get through Comp class, but also a valuable resource for their careers and a rewarding means of personal expression. I look forward to working with you and exploring words and communications together.
