Crazy dog lady, lover of all music, and devoted teacher.

I grew up on a cattle ranch in the central part of Florida. Glades County to be exact. I bet you did not know that beef cattle is the 3rd largest industry in the state of Florida. Who knew we were more than pretty beaches? Growing up on a ranch meant that much of my time was spent working with family to care for our animals and land. My parents made sure we worked hard in all aspects of our lives: school, ranch, and home. I got my first paying job when I was 13 and I have rarely not had a job since then! I know what it is to work hard in multiple areas of life at the same time and I respect that students in my classes are probably juggling the same things. I consider my classroom to be our space to learn. I have never lead a class where I did not learn from my students and I want to see you work hard and succeed!

I am currently the Academic Director for SPC's Center of Excellence for Teaching and Learning. While in this role, I will be teaching fewer courses and working to help faculty collegewide be amazing in their classrooms!
My role in the Center of Excellence for Teaching and Learning means that, for now, I am only teaching part-time, however; I work for the College full-time.

Prior to teaching, I worked every job you could have in a law firm - from the very bottom to practicing law. I made these transitions in law offices prior to, during, and after law school.  Having had just about every job in a law office, including lawyer, I have a unique appreciation for what it takes to get the job done correctly and I endeavor to share the practical along with the knowledge you need to know.

I have been a lawyer in Florida since 2010. I received my Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law in 2009, where I was on the honor role and a member of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in English and American Literature in 2005 from the University of South Florida, where I belonged to Golden Key International Honor Society and Phi Sigma Pi National Honors Fraternity.

I see my classroom (online or face-to-face) as a collaborative place where learners work together to develop skills. The reality is that each of us has something to share with the class - it is my job to help that happen. I have high standards but I am also a self-professed chearleader for my students. I teach the way I would like to learn: tailored to each student and with a constant attitude that the practical skills you learn in school will help you to be an invaluable part of a workplace. I believe that the classroom should be a fun place. You can learn, work, and have fun!
