A BIT ABOUT ME:

I truly enjoy teaching in the diverse, always relevant and endlessly fascinating field of Applied Ethics!  I also want each of my students to enjoy the class experience while learning a great deal during the semester.  I always look forward to all that I always learn from my students each year!  If you come to class prepared with the required textbook, keep pace with the reading and other assignments and above all, choose to participate in class with an open mind and heart (seeking to interact in active learning with your classmates), you will achieve success in your Ethics course.  I will always strive to be the best advocate possible for that success.

I have been married to my wonderful "other half" Jerry for four decades now and we are still seeking our next great adventure.  We have three grown children and three grandchildren.  Second to spending time with family, we love to travel and our latest trip was a wonderful one to Europe (France and England) during the summer of 2017.  Next up is a two week trip throughout China this summer, 2018.  I will try to talk you into traveling however and whenever you can, as the life benefits are many!   Another major life passion is reading (I am a speed reader and usually go through a book per week), continuing to attempt to learn everything I can about my major interests; English, French and American history, biographies of notable people from all walks and times of life, current world and national events, healthcare and end-of-life issues, human rights, and of course all other types of ethical and philosophical issues.  I read less  that is outside the non-fiction category, but I do have favorite fiction works that I often highly recommend to all students.  I also enjoy visiting and swimming at the beautiful beaches of our area, and am always very happy on a boat and/or partaking of fresh Florida seafood and outdoors music and arts festivals.  As we are town of Dunedin residents, we always attend the big annual Dunedin street parties, beginning with Mardi Gras every year.

I am also a movie buff and enjoy all types of films, from the old black-and-white classics to all current (well-done) films; especially in the documentary genre.  I actually have a list of wonderful ethically-themed movies for which I award extra credit points for watching and writing a synopsis commenting on the issues presented; just ask me and earn significant extra credit towards your final course grade!

In addition, since the age of eleven (when I saw them along with millions of others on "The Ed Sullivan Show") I am a huge life-long Beatles fan; traveling to Liverpool and London for Beatles sites and conferences and just seeing Paul McCartney for the eighth time in Tampa!  I sometimes have even been known to occasionally quote Beatles lyrics to illustrate a point in Ethics, so please understand that I sometimes see the world through a "Beatles lens"!  They were a profound influence in all areas of my generation's lives and that influence still reverberates through to today's generations and all music lovers.  I love most types of music, including blues, Dixieland jazz, classical, bluegrass and many others, but "The Fabs" always top the list for me!

I guess you could say I am an "eternal optimist" and I always try to give others the benefit of the doubt in all things (unless when sadly sometimes proven otherwise.)  I try to practice an attitude of gratitude throughout my life; I have much to be grateful for and try to never take life and others for granted.

I look forward to learning about you, my next new student!
