A little information about myself: I've been at SPC for 15 years working as a librarian. I was a returning student and began my re-entry into college at Pensacola Junior College in Pensacola, Florida. My masters is in Library Science, and I have enjoyed the shift to online resources that has occurred in the past 20 years in the library field. As coordinator of Online Reference Services at SPC's M.M. Bennett Library, I welcome online users of that service as well as students in the physical library! I have three grown children, two of whom began their college careers at a community college. My major hobbies are reading, (no surprise!), especially history, long walks for exercise, and gardening/yard work. My educational philosophy is summed up by saying that education does more than just give you skills for the workplace; education enhances you as a human being.

Electronic Research Strategies is a course where part of your requirements will be searches on research topics. In addition, if you are unfamiliar with the online Angel system, both LIS 1002 and LIS 2004 allow you to get used to the Angel system. In LIS 1002 you will become acquainted with the online library resources currently available to SPC student as a model for future systems you encounter. Using your new skills for current classes is greatly encouraged. Some comments from students who have taken the course: "I appreciate the valuable information that this course showed me." "I think this class has been great, I have four other classes besides this one, and all require much writing. One of my classes involved a research paper and the use of the electronic library was great. In my other classes, I had to write numerous papers and then cite an internet source I used for information. So, the sections on internet search engines also were very helpful." "As for the class I loved it! This class was very informative and paced well to avoid sensory overload. I will use Academic search premier and scholarly journals every time I have a formal paper, that way I don't have to worry about incorrect info."
