Mrs. Laura Baker
I am an alumna of St. Petersburg College of Education where I earned my bachelor's degree in special education. Presently, I work full-time as a Literacy Coach. I've worked as a special education teacher and Literacy Coach for over eight years for Pinellas County Schools. I'm married with 3 children who've graduated from FSU and UCF. Naturally, I’m an avid reader – love it, love it, love it!
I prescribe to the inquiry stance learning philosophy. A teacher's role is to guide student learning rather than acting as the primary source of knowledge. I believe through reflective dialogue we open up opportunities for students to construct their own meaning while learning.
I believe that ALL students deserve individualized instruction to meet their learning needs and a curriculum based on developing skills that will prepare them to be college and career ready.
I am a strong proponent of the Gradual Release of Responsibility instructional model that allows our students to master skills for life.
