Dr. Todd VanAuken

Hello! It is truly my pleasure to help guide my students into the amazing field of Radiologic Technology. I graduated from this very program in 1998 and have enjoyed every minute of my career. Upon graduation, I began taking x-rays at Bayfront Medical Center and quickly realized the many options offered by the profession. Within a year, I was training and then working as a vascular interventional technologist at St. Anthony's Hospital. Three years later, I became a Magnetic Resonance Imaging technologist at BayCare Bardmoor Outpatient Center. During my time in MRI, I realized the benefit of becoming a lifelong learner and obtained my BA in Business Management from Eckerd College and then my MA in Career and Technical Education at the University of South Florida. I eventually earned a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Career and Workforce Education from USF.
I began teaching for the program as an adjunct instructor in 2006, which led to a full-time position as the program Clinical Coordinator, a role I held for thirteen years. I am now back to serving as an adjunct for the radiography program. In addition, I teach part-time for the University of Central Florida and National University of Health Sciences.
I am honored to serve as the Assistant Dean for SPC's College of Health Sciences. In my free time, I enjoy spending quality moments with my wife and children and serve as a scoutmaster for Scouts BSA. Additionally, I am the Director of Medical Outreach for the Down Syndrome Association of Tampa Bay.
