Dr. Eric Tucker, Ph.D.
I was born in Michigan and raised in Mexico. I have lived and worked in various parts of Latin America, spending more time in Latin America than the US. The doctorate is in Intercultural Studies with a minor in Adult Education and a dissertation focused on Miami. My interests include cultures, worldviews, philosophy, arts and humanities, and spirituality. Past job functions have included medical research, sales, seminar training, and marketing and management consulting for non-profit organizations.
I teach various courses, all related in some way to ethics, including Professional and Healthcare Ethics, Business Administration, World Religions, Organizational Behavior, Leadership, Managing Cultural Diversity, Service Learning and other Honors College courses.
My desire in teaching is for the student to grow in love with learning and develop in his or her unique abilities and calling. My objective is to develop an engaged, free, and respectful learning environment in which we can discuss and explore, bringing good theoretical principles and critical thinking into everyday life decisions. A diverse group including different perspectives, ages, cultures, languages, and background enrich our discussions.
For fun, gardening adds much to my life. My reading usually leans toward history or science fiction. Happiness is grandchildren! I am now privileged with eight from fourteen down.
I do require attendance and assign readings and quizzes before the material is covered in class. Some call this a "flipped" lesson. I find that student preparation results in much better class discussions.
