I'm a public health professional with over seven years of professional work experience. I spent more than 10 years studying health sciences, starting at the Center for Wellness and Medical Professions at Palm Harbor University High School. I went on to the University of South Florida as a pre-nursing student, and started taking public health courses in my gap semester between completing all of my pre-requisite courses and being eligible to apply for the College of Nursing. As fate would have it, I didn't end up being accepted in the College of Nursing, yet found myself interested in the public health courses so I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Public Health with a minor in Emergency Management and Homeland Security in 2017.
With a few years of hands-on experience under my belt, I felt prepared to advance my expertise and enrolled in the University of West Florida's Master in Public Health program in 2020. I learned more about myself as a public health professional, deepened my knowledge of the field, and found a renewed passion for making an impact on my community. I graduated with my Master in Public Health with a concentration in Health Education, Behavior, and Promotion in 2022.
My philosophy for teaching is ask questions early and often. If I can't get you an answer off the top of my head, let's work together to find out. I am a naturally collaborative spirit (hence the public health work), and I live for making connections. I will always try my best to do my part, and go above and beyond as often as I can, and will expect the same of my students. We're on the same team - I want you to succeed just as much as you want to succeed.
A bit about me personally: I live in Tarpon Springs with my husband, my dog, and our cat. I've lived around Tampa Bay for over 20 years, from Spring Hill, to Largo, to Tampa. I love to go to the beach, bake, do crafts, and am a pretty avid line dancer. I'm a big sports fan, especially of the Tampa Bay Lightning, and enjoy going to games when I can.
