My educational background is:
My teaching philosophy is: "I have a commitment to the education and development of both students and myself. I will support the SPC vision by being a positive, ethical, honest, and hard-working person. I will be creative, inventive, and bring out the best in others, trying to create a classroom that is socially equitable, developmentally responsive, and is provided with the knowledge and resources to ensure academic excellence. I feel that every student deserves a GREAT teacher. Every great teacher has to have at least three qualities...content knowledge, a working relationship with the students, and most of all, a PASSION to teach! Teachers who help students see the connectedness of learning are the best kinds of teachers."
My personal philosophy is, "Work hard, play hard." When I play, I enjoy such activities as reading the true stories of peoples' lives, digging and planting (I do not believe in "bushes" or typical "Parade of Homes" types of plants, but enjoy plants that have flowers or produce fruit), cooking exotic meals and entertaining, bicycle riding, traveling overseas, going to the beach, swimming, and fishing in the "middle grounds".
I serve in many community groups actively, including:
St. John's Greek Orthodox Church in Tampa
The Ladies Philoptochos Society (Friend of the Poor)
The Daughters of Penelope (District Governor for FL)
The American Foundation for Greek Language and Culture (AFGLC)
Sister Cities of Tarpon Springs
The Tarpon Historical Society
The PanCyprian Association of Florida
On campus, I love The Hellenic Society, which has meetings every week and participates with the Student Government Association (SGA) in events of interest to our campus. The mission of The Hellenic Society (of students) is educational and culturally enriching, serving others. Our meetings and events are fun, cultural, educational, and interesting...you do not have to be Greek to belong. Would you like to join? Just contact me, please!
Here is a video clip of 3 of the SPC CETL 2016 Distinguished Faculy presented at the "Welcome Back" at the Colliseum in St. Petersburg on Thursday, August 11, 2016. I am the 3rd professor in the presentation. Thank you SPC Students, Colleagues, and Leadership for this beautiful award and to SPC Brittany Knight who produced the video. https://youtu.be/24Der-Qeuyc
