Katherine Springfield

I grew up in the Southeast, in Atlanta, Georgia and Gainesville, FL. I graduated from University of Florida in 1969 with a B.A. in Psychology. I returned to school in 1986, and I received a MEd in English Education from the University of Florida. I received a M. A .in Physical Education from the University of South Florida in 1992. I taught Comp I, Comp II, Basic Writing Skills and Personal Wellness, primarily at the Tarpon Springs campus of St. Pete College from 1990--1993. I worked at BayCare Health System from 1993 to 2012. During my tenure there I managed a wellness center, was a health educator and Coordinator of Employee Wellness at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, was an Education Specialist at BayCare Education Servicesa and ended my career there as a Manager of BayCare Education Services. I retired from BayCare in October, 2012.
My husband retired from St. Petersburg College in 2009, and he continues to teach biology part-time at St. Petersburg College.
We have been married 25 years. We have no children, and one cat, a 16 year-old Calico cat named Kittie Carlisle.
We enjoy being outdoors. We like to travel, hike, cross-country ski and cycle.
When I retired I wanted to work part-time, and I always enjoyed teaching Comp I. So, this is my retirement job! It is interesting
for me to incorporate my training experience with the traditional classroom setting, making Comp I more interactive and "hands on."
