Melissa Slawsky, Ph.D., NCTM is a dynamic teaching, learning, and information specialist with over 15 years of teaching experience in the private, classroom, and higher educational settings with a passion for teaching, consulting, and research. As a pianist, she is known for her artistic interpretations of solo and collaborative music, including instrumental and vocal accompaniment, as well as tradtional and contemporary worship music.  Also a violinist, she has enjoyed collaborative, orchestral, and ensemble work. Her current "musical obsessions" are the lesser-known piano works of Jean Sibelius, the virtuostic "Lisztian" arrangements of movie themes by Jarrod Radnich, and the Argentine tango works of Astor Piazzolla.

Dr. Melissa Slawsky  completed a Ph.D. in music education with a concentration in piano pedagogy at the University of South Florida. During her graduate studies she served as post-graduate fellow at The New School for Music Study, the laboratory setting for the Frances Clark Center for Keyboard Pedagogy, and adjunct professor of piano and music theory at the University of Tampa and International Academy of Design and Technology.

Her diverse research interests include: the applied musician's transition into the teaching role (i.e., induction) and development as music educators, motivational aspects of music in connection to sports psychology and exercise physiology, inverse relationship between sight-reading and memorization at the piano, and applications of music in connection to memory. Most recently, she was awarded the Frances Clark Center for Keyboard Pedagogy "Best Poster, Professional Division" award at the 2013 National Conference for Keyboard Pedagogy.

Dr. Slawsky currently serves as a private piano instructor in the Clearwater/Safety Harbor area, as well as Accompanist for the Tampa Bay Children's Chorus in St. Pete. She resides in Safety Harbor, Florida with her husband, young son, and 4 birds.
