• Actively led R&D group charged with developing biotechnology advances in the area of oral care products (toothpaste, mouthwash, whitening treatments and dental gum). Oversaw the work of nine professionals spanning research scientists up to PhD level technical associates.
• Identified and validated new technologies and developed oral care products deemed marketable. Conceptualized project plans and conducted both laboratory and clinical studies to document efficacy.
• Presented scientific data related to the etiology and treatment of dental caries, tooth sensitivity, enamel protection, dry mouth and gum disease to professional audiences, such as the American Dental Association, the International Association for Dental Research and dental schools where future dentists and dental hygienists are educated. Also travelled extensively in Southeast Asia to lecture at health ministries as a public service to promote oral care.
• Developed training modules and webinars for the company’s sales team as well as dental professionals and industry thought leaders.
• Engaged external collaborators (academic professionals, startup biotechnology firms or other entities) to coordinate joint research as appropriate.
• Authored and submitted Investigational New Drug Applications (INDs) and New Drug Applications (NDAs). Met with FDA to discuss both active systems as well as models for testing vis-à-vis modifications to current FDA Monographs.
• Hired staff, created individualized professional development plans and conducted formal performance evaluations.
• Mentored interns—typically pre-professional healthcare students interested in research.
