I am excited to teach education courses for St. Pete College! I hope to inspire future teachers to design and integrate literacy activities that are highly engaging, authentic, and research based. I believe that teachers can develop literacy activities, lessons, and units that excite students to read and write every day in the classroom. I am a strong advocate of integrating literacy and technology in ELA as well as all content area subjects! Technology is the language of students in our schools. It is a language that all teachers must become proficient in in order to communicate with, excite, and engage students in the schools in creating high quality literacy based products.
I bring a great wealth of experience to my teaching. I recently retired as the Reading Coordinator/AIS Coordinator for NYS District. I currently teach as a Graduate Professor in Literacy and Technology for NYIT and Touro College.
I do a lot of Professional Development in literacy and assessment throughout the United States, often in some of the low performing schools in inner cities.
I have written a reading series for Steck Vaughn and many literacy based lessons and activities for various publishers and school districts.
I am also a member of the International Reading Association's Committee on Literacy and Technology.
I encourage students to contact me whenever they have questions or are not sure of any work or assignments. Again, it is a great pleasure to be teaching for St. Pete College!
