I have experience in selling, sales management, marketing management, and executive management in the Graphic Arts capital equipment industry. Much of my experience has been in the international arena. I also have experience in hotel and motel management and marketing as well as tourism and destination marketing.
Teaching at St. Petersburg College allows me to share my business experiences with students and to contribute in some way to their success.
My MBA and BS degrees are from St. Louis University with a concentration in marketing and finance.
My family has lived in Dunedin for many years where my wife was an elementary school teacher.
My activities include fitness activities, golf, and reading.
My teaching goal is to explain how the various functions of business work and how they are related in the real world and help the students understand how to apply classroom knowledge to real world job performance. I would like the students to learn in a "hands on" and experiential method.
Marketing is a key element of any business. Marketing is how a company generates revenue. Without marketing there is no money for accountants to count, report, and manage. Without marketing there are few employees, if any, and therefore not much need for human resources. If a company cannot identify their markets, or who will need or want their product or service via demographics, geographics, and lifestyles then how do they know what to produce.
So, marketing is the driving force in business. What is our product or service? Who needs our product or service? How do we identify those people? How do we reach those markets to sell (exchange) our product or service? At what price do we sell? Lastly, how do we sell-online or face to face, brick and mortar?
Without selling, a company does not generate revenue and won't be successful.
Its interesting and possibly fun to learn the how to's.
