I am a graduate of the Interdisciplinary Humanities program at Florida State University, with focus on teaching in higher education.  My undergraduate degree was in Creative Arts and during my graduate work at FSU, I studied at the overseas study center in Florence, Italy.   An especially rewarding part of my study in Italy was working on the Cetamura archaeological site - this is an ongoing excavation of an Etruscan settlement (students in my HUMN 2210 class will be learning more about that early culture.)  My career in higher education has included teaching at Valencia Community College (Orlando) and Santa Fe Community College (Gainesville), as well as administrative work at the University of Maryland Baltimore County.  I have been teaching online since 2000 and taught full-time at the SPG campus of St. Petersburg College from 2004-2008.  Since 2008, I have resided in Key West, FL, while continuing online teaching.  I enjoy the diversity of SPC's students and the high standards of our programs and courses.  I subscribe to the philosophy that high standards and good mentoring are not mutually exclusive and I try to afford students both of those goals.  While most of my students are not majoring in Humanities, hopefully a lifelong patronage of the arts will be inspired by our study.
