It has been my privilege to teach at St. Petersburg College since 1985. I began teaching at the Clearwater Campus and Health Education Center. Way back then I developed the first-in the-nation Computers in Health Care (Computer Literacy) Course for the nursing students. In 1989 I transferred to the Tarpon Springs Campus where I have taught a wide variety of Business Courses: Introduction to Business, Business Math, Human Factors in Supervision, Keyboarding, Business Communications, and Word Processing. I currently teach my very favorite class: Computer Applications. I have, also, taught Advanced Computer Applications.
Prior to becoming a faculty member at SPC, I taught at Hillsborough Community College, Ferris State University (Big Rapids, Michigan), and at the high school level in Michigan. My undergraduate degree is from Western Michigan University and my Masters from University of South Florida. I have many other graduate hours--most of which were online.
My childhood was spent growing up on an island in a lake in Southwestern Michigan. I have been married to the same wonderful man for many years and we have two grown children and 3 grandchildren.
My interests include gardens and flowers, reading, music, collecting etiquette books, and traveling. This past May we toured 5 U.S. National Parks and rode a narrow gauge train from Durango to Silverton, CO. A year ago we took a lengthy "road trip" throughout the Eastern Seaboard visiting Jamestown, Washington D.C, Annapolis, Gettysburg, Monticello, and the Outer Banks. Four years ago we toured 5 countries in Southern Africa taking photos of lions, elephants, giraffes, and visiting such historic places as Robben Island off Cape Town, South Africa, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18 years. Our other travels have taken us to many areas in the U.S. and to England, Greece, France, the Netherlands, Canada, the Bahamas, Grand Cayman, and Mexico.
My philosophy: "The best way to learn is to teach."
