My educational background includes a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Buffalo State, and a masters and Ph.D from Florida State. Go 'Noles. I've worked in professional positions in higher education at a number of places, including Temple University in Philadelphia, for a statewide study of private higher education in Indianapolis, for the NC Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in Raleigh, as Executive Vice President of Pfeiffer University in NC, and most recently as VP for Planning and (since 1995) as Provost of the SPC Seminole Campus.

I particularly enjoy teaching SLS 1101, "The College Experience." It gives me an opportunity to get to know a great group of students every semester, to provide primarily first-time students with the skills they need to be successful in college, and to understand and appreciate the faculty and centrality of the teaching-learning process.  Teaching online provides unique challenges and opportunities for building an academic community.

My wife and I live in Seminole and stay active in community activities, which is also critically important to the success of our Campus. We have three terrific children and three grandchildren, are active in our church, and enjoy travelling. I also spend a lot of time at the keyboard (a "mouse" potato), and enjoy watching the revolutionary impact that technology is having on how education is being delivered and accessed!
