My name is Terri Lynn T. Mossgrove and I am an Assistant Professor here at St. Petersburg College. Additionally, I am the ESOL Coordinator for SPC's College of Education (COE). My home campus is Tarpon Springs in the Bilirakus Building. However, I also regularly teach on the Clearwater campus and occationally teach on the Gibbs campus. Additionally, I engage in consulting work for the Florida Department of Education related to ESOL from time to time.

I received my B.S. in Elementary Education in 1990 and have spent ten years teaching second, third, and fourth grade. In 2006, I earned my M.A. in Applied Linguistics. In 2013, I completed an Ed.S. in Curriculum and Instruction in ESOL. Currently, I am in a Ph.D. program in Educational Leadership and Public Policy. Some of you have also spaced out your formal education or are coming back to college after a break in education while either raising a family, participating in the work force, or both. As a working parent and student, I truly appreciate the organizational skills that it takes to meet all of the demands on your time

Before coming to SPC in 2009, I taught Reading at the High School Level and was an ESOL Lead Teacher at another high school.  I have taught English Language Learners at several levels including elementary school, adolecent summer programs, high school, adult literacy, and college prepatory at an English Language Institute.

There are many reasons why people choose the honorable profession of education. As for me, I took an Introduction to Teaching course and I was hooked. Like many of you, I wanted to pass on my love of learning. I have taught young learners to help them grow, I have taught language learners to help them meet their linguistic and academic goals, and now I am teaching pre-service teachers to effectively work with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) student populations. I am looking forward to working with you throughout your educational experience here at SPC. Please feel free to contact me with any comments, questions, or concerns and welcome to what I hope is your "calling."
