Janet Modrakovic, M.Ed., CVT
I attended St. Clair College of Applied Arts and Science in Windsor, Ontario and graduated in 1988. I am a Certified Veterinary Technician and graduated from St. Petersburg College with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology-Clinical Track in 2010. In 2018, I graduated from the American College of Education program of Master of Education in Advanced Studies-Cognitive Science with a concentration in higher education. In my first two years after becoming a veterinary technician, I worked full-time in a general practice. I then began working full-time at the Windsor Veterinary Emergency Clinic and part-time at the Windsor and Essex County Humane Society. After re-locating to Florida in 1993, I worked in the Veterinary Emergency department at Tampa Bay Veterinary Emergency Service for 15 years. I worked in the Internal Medicine department at Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists from 2005 until 2019. I have been teaching on campus at SPC since 1999. I currently teach the radiology sections of Clinic Practice II, Nursing and Medicine Lab I and II, and Emergency Medicine. I have developed and participated in several study abroad classes (Work Practicum V). I have twice been to Costa Rica to work with sea turtles, to Thailand to work in a sanctuary for retired working elephants, and to Zimbabwe. My latest adventure to Namibia where we worked with a variety of animals including cheetahs and baboons was a success. I love radiology, teaching, traveling, and cats!
