Dr. Sharon L. Lamson has recently moved to Palm Harbor , Florida after 25 years of experience teaching in higher education at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO.  She was a professor of elementary and early childhood education.  For over 5 years she was the Chair of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction which became the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education during her last year as Chair.  She gradutated from Pennsylvania State University with a BS in Elementary/Kindergarten Education and a M.ED in Early Childhood Education.  Her doctorate is from Kent State University in Ohio in Special Education: Gifted Education.  She has been, and continues to be, very active presenting and holding leadership roles in state, regional and national professional educator organizations.

Dr. Lamson believes that the needs of students should come first in the classroom.  In teacher education, that means the children that we will teach in our professional careers are of primary concern, then the college students who will become the teachers of those children and then the needs of the faculty member should be met.  It is important that student  learning and opportunities for success be a guiding belief in the classroom.  Every student can learn, it is up to the individual student and teacher, working together, to decide how much how soon.  However, high expectations for learning are important.
