I began my college career at SPC when it was still called St. Petersburg Junior College.  I obtained my Associate of Arts Degree and then transferred to Eckerd College.  I started Eckerd as a traditional residential student but eventually moved to PEL (Program for Experienced Learners).  I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree with High Honors in Creative Writing.  I missed my graduation, however,  because I was in Charlotte, North Carolina beginning my Master's program at Queens University where I eventually graduated with a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Creative Writing.

Since my graduation, I have been teaching.  For the past three years, I have worked at Lakewood High School in South St. Pete.  I taught every level of reading as well as Freshmen and Junior English.  I also created and implemented a Creative Writing program at Lakewood that focused on Fiction, Poetry and Memoir.

I believe teaching should be a reciprocal process.  I don't enjoy listening to myself speak, but would rather have a class truly engaged in discussion.
