I am the full-time Counselor / Learning Specialist for students with disabilities at Seminole Campus and the Health Education Center, as well as teaching for eCampus. I have been at SPC since 1991 and spent 13 years at Clearwater Campus before taking my present position.
My academic background includes a Doctor of Education degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, a dual MA in counseling and exceptional education from Norwich University in Vermont, coursework from Adams State University in Colorado in media science, and a BA from Ball State University in Indiana in choral and Spanish education.
I love to travel; and I have lived, studied, and taught in a variety of geographic areas, including being an exchange student in Mexico. I am a former elementary and middle school classroom teacher (music, media and Spanish) in Indiana and Colorado. I also taught adult literacy while living in Texas and preschool in Florida. Besides teaching, I have worked as a clinical psychometrist, giving and interpreting standardized psychological tests; and as a clinical and career counselor.
On the personal side, I have three children and a grandson born July 4, 2006. My older daughter has a BS from Florida International University in hospitality management and a Master's degree in elementary education from the University of South Florida. She is currently on maternity leave in Mobile, AL, where her husband is an air-rescue mechanic with the Coast Guard. My second daughter graduated from the USF in sociology and works for the Department of Children and Families. She is married to a Pasco County deputy sheriff and they live in Wesley Chapel. My son is an Army staff sergeant who is with a NATO counter-intelligence unit in Germany.
