Karen Cano

Hi there! My name is Karen Cano and I am a member of the adjunct faculty here at SPC. I have many years experience in the risk management industry. I began as a file clerk, transitioned to sales and later to underwriting. From underwriting I began to dabble in safety by way of risk evaluations and inspections which eventually led me to commercial loss control. I am now currently employed with Pinellas County as a Risk Technician and I help protect the County's assets and the many citizens it serves.
I began my studies at a community college as well and received my Associate's in Arts from Valencia College. I later continued back to Miami to Florida International University where I received both my Bachelor's in Science in Criminal Justice and also my Corporate Master's of Business Administration. My M.B.A. program had a heavy focus on management which I hope to impart some of my experiences back to the students.
I am originally from South Florida and moved to the Gult Coast in late 2016. Since then I have enjoyed fun in the sun and experiencing all my new(ish) home has to offer. On my free time, I enjoy paddleboarding, reading, exercising and generally enjoying the day to day.
