Dr. Zachary Johnson
Dr. Zachary Johnson is a young classical guitarist whose talent has garnered national attention. He has performed in venues across the United States for recitals, competitions, and festivals. He has most recently performed most recently for the Portland Classic Guitar Series, Seven Hills Concert Series, GuitarSarasota, and as a selected performer for the Stetson International Guitar Festival.
Aside from his performing career, Dr. Johnson is also an active teacher. He is Adjunct Professor of Guitar at St. Petersburg College, and Adjunct Guitar Teacher at the Pinellas County Center for the Arts at Gibbs High School. He has served as Adjunct Professor of Guitar at Stetson University, Visiting Adjunct Professor at Florida State University, and Adjunct Professor of Guitar at Tallahassee Community College. He has created the Suzuki guitar program at the Sarasota Suzuki Institute, and also served as the Artistic Director at Florida Enrichment Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
Zachary recieved full scholarships to Yale University, Stetson University, and Florida State University. His teachers include Benjamin Verdery, Dr. Stephen Robinson, and Bruce Holzman. After receiving his Bachelors from Stetson University, he went on to receive his Masters from Yale University, and recently received his Doctorate of Music from Florida State University, where he was selected as a Teachers Assistant to Mr. Holzman. His Doctoral treatise, The Solo Guitar Works of Sir Richard Rodney Bennett, has been published by LAP Academic Publishing, and is available on Amazon.com.
