I was born in in Indiana and grew up a Hoosier. I moved to FL when I went to University of Florida where I met my husband and earned my Bachelor's Degree in Education. I immediately went to University of South Florida and earned my master's degree. In 1983, I became an adjunct professor at SPC. I also taught full-time at numerous schools in Pinellas County before being hired full-time at SPC in 1990. After teaching a couple of years at SPC, I went back to school and earned a doctorate in Higher Education in 1995. In 2002, I became an administrator of a series of grants called Project Eagle, three consecutive federal monitary awards exceeding 10 million dollars to advance learning anywhere, any time. Once the grant terms ended, I returned to teaching. I continue my love of teaching, although I mainly teach in the arena of online education. I teach the following courses:

  • Introduction to Education
  • Diverse Populations in Education
  • Personal Wellness

On a more personal note, my husband of 32 years is the assistant superintendent in the Pinellas County School system. My son and daughter both attended my alma mater, the University of Florida. I am happy to report that my daughter is a 4th grade teacher in Ocala and has been nominated for teacher of the year after only 4 years of teaching experience. With 75% of the family in education, you might guess the topic of many of our conversations. I love to run, water ski, snow ski, swim, and travel. I am always busy doing one of my jobs or exercising - to which I attribute my surplus of energy.
