Biography

Daniel Joiner is a professional musician, pianist, teacher, arranger, and composer in the Tampa Bay area. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Classical Piano Performance from Stetson University and has recently earned a Master’s Degree in Jazz Studies from USF. From 2004-2007 he served as Director of Music for Spruce Creek Presbyterian Church in Port Orange, FL. During this period he also performed extensively with his jazz trio, and in 2007 they completed their first CD entitled “The Daniel Joiner Trio: A Different Standard.” That same year, he served as an adjunct faculty member at Stetson University, teaching Aural Training and Functional Keyboard. As a graduate assistant at USF, he taught a group Jazz Keyboard course and also served as an adjunct teaching Aural Skills. He is currently an adjunct faculty member at Southeastern University where he teaches private students in jazz and church music, at St. Petersburg College where he teaches private lessons in pop and contemporary music, Class Piano, and the Fundamentals of Music, and at Hillsborough Community College where he teaches Class Piano. As a performer, his style has been greatly influenced by jazz pianists such as Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, Chick Corea, Michel Camilo, and Herbie Hancock. His goal is to reach his audience by making connections between a variety of different styles including jazz, Latin, blues, classical, popular music, and gospel. He has performed at various public venues in Tampa including Busch Gardens, Aquaknox, Mitchell’s Fish Market, The Metro, The Tampa Bay Times Forum, and Weck's American Grill as well as many private events. He also serves as the Sunday morning pianist for Idlewild Baptist Church in Lutz, FL.
