My professional career includes having been the City Administrator for the City of Arcadia, Florida, a city located in DeSoto County. I am a former Vice President with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority/New York City Transit, the largest transportation agency in the Western Hemisphere. I administered the Office of Civil Rights, which has the responsibility of protecting the civil rights of the employees of the agency and works to ensure that minority and women owned businesses participate in contracting opportunities with the MTA. Formerly I was the Executive Director of the Suffolk County, New York, Human Rights Commission which protected the civil rights of all people who reside or visit the County of Suffolk, New York.  I was the Assistant City Manager, for the City of Sarasota, a coastal city with a variety of amenities.  My first experience in teaching was at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, Averill Harriman School for Management and Policy, where I taught a human resources course which centered on managing a diverse workforce.

My educational philosophy is that we are all in a learning process and that our search for knowledge should be ongoing and consistent with our passion to make a difference in the lives of our fellow human beings. I believe that the experience I have gained in the management of government programs and policies, gives students a more well rounded prospective on public policy issues, along with the purpose  and role of government in our everyday lives. I love teaching and participating in the educational experience of students in discovering the various aspects of political science and government.
