I received my Associate in Science degree in Veterinary Technology from St. Petersburg College in 1983. I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Technology in May 2007. I worked in general practice for 10 years before entering a veterinary specialty practice.  In 1993 I joined the internal medicine staff at Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists in Largo, Florida.  Soon I became chief of nursing staff for the internal medicine and dermatology departments. In 2002 I joined the staff of a feline specialty practice, All Cats Hospital, in Largo. Currently I work for Midmark, a veterinary equipment company, and for the Emergency Care Center.

I began teaching at St. Petersburg College’s Veterinary Technology program in 1998 as an adjunct instructor.

In addition to my work commitments, I am an active member of the North American Veterinary Technician Association and Florida Veterinary Technician Association (FVTA).  I was also a member of the Florida Veterinary Medical Association’s Veterinary Technician Committee.  In 2000, I was elected to a 3-year presidency term for the FVTA and was president again in 2008. During my first term as president I helped secure certification testing for technicians by the FVTA. In 2003 I appeared on the cover of Veterinary Technician magazine and was presented with the Jack Mara Veterinary Technician of the Year Award in 2005.

I live with my fiancé in St. Petersburg, Florida.  We have one domestic shorthair cat named "Chloe".

I am very passionate about our profession and hope to see us licensed soon. My other passion is teaching and I look forward to every class. I like to take an integrative approach to teaching nursing and always consider the “whole” patient not just focus on a procedure or skill.
