Hi! My name is Dr. Kristina Patterson. I have been an RN since 1999 and have a variety of experience including Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, CVICU, and ER. I received my DNP from Case Western University in December, 2018, my Master's Degree in Nursing Education on December 8, 2008 from the University of Phoenix Online program. I moved to Florida from Chicago in 2007. I have 2 children, James (23) and Cassie (19). James is going to USF to study computer programming and Cassie is going to UF in Gainesville to study computer engineering.

My philosphy of education is that I believe that faculty members have the unique ability to touch the lives of patients through the mentoring of nursing students. I believe that faculty members must be sensitive to the enthnically diverse student populations by attempting to meet their unique needs. Educators must be aware of a multitude of learning principles to employ techniques that will work with all different ages and types of learners. I hope to empower my students to be prepared to deal with the political and social challenges of a global society, engage in collaborative work environments, and promote the profession of nursing. I hope to enhance the knowledge, skills & attitudes of my students so they feel confident in providing safe, effective care for their patients. I hope to show respect for my students by offering frequent, objective evaluations and feedback, role modeling, clarifying expectations, allowing opportunities for problem solving, experiential learning, and caring.
